The whole time there were dinosaurs on the ground during the Mesozoic Era there were pterosaurs in the skies. They evolved a wide variety of body shapes, sizes and lifestyles and their fossil remains are found all over the world. They include the largest flying animals known to have existed. Sadly, they went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous along with the dinosaurs.
